1.Overview
Chess Shift (“the App”, “we”, “us”) is a chess game app for Android. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using Chess Shift, you agree to the practices described here.
We do not require you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, or any government-issued ID to use the App.
2.Information We Collect

We do not collect precise GPS location, contacts, photos, or files stored on your device.
3.Third-Party Services
Chess Shift uses the following third-party services, each with its own privacy practices:
- Google AdMob — displays in-app advertising and may use the advertising identifier and device data to serve and measure ads. See Google’s Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
- Google Firebase (Realtime Database, App Check) — powers online multiplayer matchmaking and protects the backend from abuse.
- OneSignal — delivers push notifications to your device using a device token.
These providers may process data on servers located outside your country.
4.How We Use Data
- To connect you with an opponent and synchronize a live chess match
- To show your chosen nickname to the player you’re matched with
- To display ads and measure ad performance
- To send optional notifications about your games
- To diagnose crashes and improve the App
We do not sell your personal information.
5.Data Retention
Match data (room codes, moves, nicknames tied to a match) is kept only as long as needed to run and briefly clean up after a game, then removed from the live database. Advertising and diagnostic data are retained by our third-party providers according to their own retention policies.
6.Your Choices
- Notifications — you can disable them anytime in your device’s Settings → Apps → Chess Shift → Notifications.
- Ad personalization — you can reset or limit your advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in your device’s Settings → Privacy (or Google Settings → Ads).
- Nickname — you choose what to enter; avoid using your real name if you’d prefer to stay anonymous.
7.Children’s Privacy
Chess Shift is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
8.Security
We use reasonable technical measures (including Firebase App Check) to protect data in transit and to prevent abuse of our backend. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9.Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
